Visual Identification: Locomotive is basically identical to the GP60 - Blomberg Trucks, squared air intake and dynamic brake blister.

Trivials: - Norfolk Southern owns all examples of this locomotive. One is painted in the "Operation Lifesaver" livery, while another still is painted in Southern Railway Heritage Green.

This photo from 1994 shows GP59's 4610 and Operation Lifesaver 7140 being used as backup power on a steam double-header at Rome, Georgia. This was the last steam excursion on Norfolk Southern rails.
