I was a bit out of my home territory when I photographed this northbound coal train on a dreary morning near Keener, Alabama.
A soutbound general merchandise freight waits on the mainline while a northbound MOW gravel train takes the siding back to Forrester Yard. The locomotives visible on the siding aren't moving towards the camera, they are pushing the train in a rearward move.
Outrunning one afternoon thunderstorm, only to run right into another, this fast southbound auto-rack was photographed near Carbondale, Georgia.
Two units of the Greenville and Columbus Railway (now the Gennessee and Wyoming) sit idle at LaFayette, Georgia. #103 is a CF-7. #1804 is a GP11.
The branchline railroad that runs through LaFayette is formerly a part of the TAG route, and is leased out by Norfolk Southern.
