"Grand Junction"

610 awaits it's next assignment at East Chattanooga.

"610 in the Spring"

The Bradford Pears are in full bloom as 610 and it's entourage of passenger cars round the curve at East Chattanooga on the Tennessee Valley Railroad.

"J Class 611"

Norfolk and Western J Class locomotive 611 and it's crew prepare to move north after a brief photo op at South Rome.

"4610 and Operation Lifesaver"

Brought along just in case the steamers were unreliable, two "special edition" GP-59's bring up the rear of the locomotive power on the last NS tourist excursion. 4610 was painted in Southern Railway green, and still travels the NS system today as a good will ambassador for the company. (A more recent photo of 4610 is shown on the "Other Fan Photos" page). 7140 was a company advertisment for it's "Stop, look, listen, and live" campaign to save lives at rail grade crossings.

"1522"

Frisco Road 1522 and it's quad-headed tourist train come to a stop in South Rome, GA for a photo op. It was unknown at the time, but this would be the last tourist excursion on Norfolk Southern rails. The company decided that due to growing traffic volume in freight commodities, it was "not in the business of passenger rail and could not devote resources and time for it."

"Battey Road"

Frisco 1522 throttles up as it heads north out of Rome, Georgia on it's last run on Norfolk Southern Rails. This photo was taken on the South Rome bypass, near Battey Machine Company.
