Update, 10/11/08 - The Chaser Cam DVD's are now available for your viewing pleasure!
What is "The Best of the Chaser Cam"?
This is a simple collection of videos that I have made trackside over the last two years. Most of the videos have been featured on the SMM Rail Photos website.
What is on it?
This ain't no Steven Spielberg film - it's raw film packed with raw railroad action. No fancy cinematography, disco soundtracks, or irritating voiceovers. Most of the shots were done with a hand-held camera. This video is just about trains, trains, and more trains, shot from a rail-fan's point of view.
The film is shot in 16:9 widescreen format. It looks really good on a plasma big screen! If you have an older 4:3 aspect TV, you will see the black boxes at the top and bottom of the picture.
The DVD's will be packaged in paper CD sleeves, with printing on the DVD surface (printable discs, photos below). The DVD's themselves will be in the +/-R format, so make sure your player(s) is compatible before ordering.
How long is the DVD?
All total, the Main Movie running time is around 63 minutes. The good thing about trains is that you can pack a lot of them into a short amount of time! And, wherever possible, the whole train is shown, locomotive-to-FRED, so you get the entire picture as if you were actually trackside!
The chapter list is as follows:
Disc 1 - Main Movie

Chapter 1: BNSF at Lindale - First shot with the HD cam, a northbound BNSF coal train comes through the construction area.
Chapter 2: Resaca Autorack - Fast moving southbound in the big town.
Chapter 3: Local at Abutment - Brief shot of CSX and NS locals doing their work at the bulk transfer yards.
Chapter 4: Resaca Pacer - Running alongside a stack train.
Chapter 5: A Day at Dalton (5 Trains) - Coal, tie trains, auto-racks, windmills - this place has it all!
Chapter 6: Cohutta, 2008 - Fast moving auto-rack on the new double track NS line.
Chapter 7: BNSF North Lindale - A southbound BNSF coal train heads for Plant Scherer.
Chapter 8: Hall (2 Trains) - Long and short shots of trains on the gently rolling hills of Oostanaula.
Chapter 9: May Street - Twilight stack short.
Chapter 10: Phelps - Autorack trying to outrun the weather.
Chapter 11: Tilton (1 Train, 1 Local) - If you have uninvited guest, put this video in the DVD player and crank up the surround sound! As it slows to on the main to wait on a passing local, this train takes about five minutes to grind (literally) to a halt.
Chapter 12: Hill City - BNSF hauling a' with Wyoming-bound empties.
Chapter 13: Middle Dalton (2 Trains) - A CSX and an NS stack train cross the diamond at Hair.
Chapter 14: Resaca Beach (3 Trains) - Highlight of this video is a Union Pacific SD9043MAC.
Chapter 15: Silver Creek - 118 cars, three locomotives under power, and an SD9 Slug-and-Mother make their way slowly up the grade at the south end of the extended Lindale siding.
Disc 2 - Web Vids and Still Photo Gallery

This disc contains videos that were pulled from the SMM Rail Photos Website. They are not the original raw videos, and were encoded to DVD from WMV files, so the quality is the same as would be found online.
Chapter 1: Carbondale - On a very congested day on the rails, a northbound BNSF coal train comes out of Hill City.
Chapter 2: Dalton, 9/6/06 - Five trains pass by as construction takes place on the CSX line in Middle Dalton.
Chapter 3: Oostanaula Crossing - Fast moving stack train heads over the water.
Chapter 4: Hill City - Short Autorack train.
Chapter 5: Etowah Turn - Two trains at dawn on the curve south of Cartersville.
Chapter 6: The Longest One - Long, slow moving train struggles at Hill City.
Chapter 7: UP at Davis - Autorack shot at Hill City and Davis siding.
Chapter 8: South Dalton - Another BNSF coal train.
Chapter 9: Wyvern - CSX coal train returning from Plant Bowen to the coal fields of Appalachia.
Chapter 10: Lindale - Long NS coal train with unusual distributed power (for NS, that is).
EXTRA - Still Photos. Still shots, taken with a seperate digital camera, of scenes from the videos on both discs.
EXTRA - Xvid Video Version of the Chaser Cam movie. This is a file that is compressed in the Xvid format that can be played back on any computer that has the Xvid codec installed.
CAUTION: Xvid Video files (.avi) have in some cases caused problems with Windows Vista's Data Execution Prevention module. This is a useless bit of code that Microsoft inserted into Vista to allow the company to have more control over what computer users do. Before you load the Xvid Codec and Xvid files onto your computer, you should know a bit about how to turn off DEP, or simply do not watch the XVID movie on your computer.
IMPORTANT - Please note that there is a "replacement only" policy on this movie, so please read through the information below before ordering.

If you are using a check or money order, please send along your e-mail address so that I can contact you when your order ships or if there is a problem with your order or payment.
When sending payment via check or money order, please note the following:
- Do not send cash.
- Write the EXACT amount that is needed to cover the number of discs you are ordering on the check. I will not cash checks that are written for more or less than the required payment, and I will not wire extra money back to you.
- Checks or Money Orders will be held until the order is ready to ship, and will be verified and cashed just before shipment.
- Allow 4-6 weeks for delivery. Usually, it should not take anywhere near this long to get the order processed, but I work some unusual hours, and it may take a few days to get the order together.
Replacement Policy
If there is a defect with your DVD's, a refund will not be given, but the disc will be replaced with another copy of the same disc if the original is found to be defective. This replacement period only applies to the first 30 days after the disc is purchased. The purchaser will pay for any applicable shipping costs.
The reason that money refunds are not given is that these discs are not copy protected, so it is easily possible to duplicate them. A few unscrupulous individuals may try to get a free movie by ordering it, copying it, then returning it for a refund, claiming the movie is defective.
Please be sure before you order that your DVD player or computer is compatible with DVD-R/+R discs. I am using Taiyo Yuden discs, and these are the best consumer grade DVD's you can get, but it won't do you any good if your player can't play them.
If a disc is damaged (excessive scratches or broken) during transit, I will consider replacing the disc. The original damaged discs must be returned, postage paid, in order to be considered for replacement.
