Featured Video - "Autumn Leaf Special"
The Tennessee Valley Railroad Museum's "Autumn Leaf Special", headed by Baldwin steamer 610, rolls across the trestle in downtown Trion, Georgia.
This was the second of two 100-mile trips sponsored by the TVRR. Each special left the museum's Grand Station at 9:00am, traveled through the city of Chattanooga and down the Chatooga and Chickamauga rails to Summerville, GA, almost 50 miles away. At Summerville, the locomotives are turned on the town turntable, and the train then returns to Chattanoonga at 7:00p.m.
The leaves for this years trip were brilliant and at their peak due to the continuing drought in North Georgia.
Western power pulls a trans-con intermodal north on Norfolk Southern rails.
This is the short version of the video; the long version of the video is around five mintues, and will be included in it's entirety on the upcoming DVD.

CHASER CAM - While testing out a new video camera, I caught this train near Resaca, GA. I couldn't get in front of it, so I ran along beside it for a while.
Dashboard video-cam caught this southbound coal train with distributed power on the end at Lindale, Georgia. The quality of the video is mediocre, as I did not have time to set up outside the vehicle to get the shot.
A fast moving Auto-Rack train blasts through Cohutta, GA. In order to view this video, you must have the Xvid codec installed on your computer.
I was actually at Wyvern to do some recon photos for MSTS when my dashboard camera caught this northbound empty coal train. It was just back from a run to Plant Bowen.
This video was shot while chasing a southbound auto-rack on the NS. The train was unexpected, so I had almost no time to set up. The wind was blowing and I wasn't using a tripod, so I got bad camera shakes. The train was moving slow enough that I was able to jump back in the car at Hill City and catch it again as it passed the Davis siding.
This mile-long intermodal was bookin' on down the line when this video was shot. The loud "bang" that you hear just before the train comes into view was the lead locomotive hitting the tie plate on the end of the South Resaca turnout. My back was turned to the train - when I heard that noise, I expected to covered in tumbling freight cars any moment!
I was just out driving around in the countryside when I came across this fast mover climbing up through Hill City. There's not much to it, but it's a real miracle that I even got set up to get it in the first place.
Later in the day, after all the northbound runs, the southbound trains begain trickling down from their waiting positions at waring. The first to go through was this BNSF coal train with 125 loaded cars.
On a foggy morning early in September, CSX was pulling track maintenance in downtown Dalton. Because they were working on an adjacent track, Norfolk Southern trains were required to slow down to about 15 mph as they made their way through the work area. This video short (5:10) captures three northbound trains.
A southbound gm train struggles to gain speed as it moves uphill through Hill City towards Davis. The video shows a variety of cargo; processed wood cars, kaolin tankers, box cars, and even some military cargo.
A northbound Powder River Coal train is on it's way to take empty hoppers back to Wyoming. This video was actually 18 minutes long, but has been cut to just under 2 minutes. On the day it was shot, Norfolk Southern was so backed up that dispatch was running trains past red stop signals within sight distance of each other. After the train came over the hill in the video, it had to stop because the end of the train just ahead was visible.
